Announcement:

Have people been able to get things for the Foster Drive? Discuss as a group how you can join the church family in supporting the Foster Care Ministry’s backpack drive. https://bfreechurch.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/2384312

Icebreaker:   What comes to mind when you think of the word “Shrewd”? What are some synonyms?

Sermon Discussion – Read Luke 16:1-13

  • Jesus commends the manager for acting shrewdly. How would you define shrewdness in the context of this parable?
  • Why do you think Jesus uses a dishonest character to convey a lesson in this parable?
    • Are there other biblical examples of flawed individuals who still exhibited commendable traits?
    • How can these examples help us see other people the way God might see them and desire to use them?

Going Deeper

  • How do you personally differentiate between using money for temporal benefit versus spiritual benefit?
  • Jesus points out that the children of this age are more shrewd in dealing with their own people than the children of light. Why do you think this is the case?
  • How can believers improve in using their resources wisely for the kingdom of God?

Next Steps

  • Reflect on areas where you might be holding back from fully trusting God with your finances: What areas stand out to you the most?
  • Discuss practical ways you can start using your financial resources more strategically for God’s kingdom.

Prayer Time:

  • Spend time praying for wisdom in how to use your resources for eternal purposes.

Reminder for next week – Read Luke 19:11-27
