Sermon Discussion – Read Matthew 7:24-27
- What aspects of this parable stand out to you the most, and why?
- How does the context of the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) deepen your understanding of the parable of the two houses?
- How do our responses to hardships (such as hurts, crises, wounds, and sins against us) reveal the true nature of our spiritual foundation?
- What are the characteristics of building a foundation on spiritual sand?
- Conversely, what are the characteristics of building a foundation on solid rock?
Going Deeper – Read Matthew 7:21-23
- How does this parable align with the teachings of Jesus in these verses?
- In what ways do we pick and choose from Jesus’s teachings to create our own version of a spiritual foundation?
