As a child, did you have something you regularly prayed for?
Sermon Discussion – James 5:13-20
- The sermon discusses four kinds of prayer: individual prayer, elder prayer, intercessory prayer, and Elijah- like prayer.
- Is there one of these that you find most challenging in your own spiritual life? Most rewarding?
- How does knowing that Elijah was “just like us” impact your view of prayer and your own relationship with God?
- What is the difference between “praying big” and “praying small?”
- Have you found yourself leaning more toward one type of prayer over the other? Why do you think that is?
- How can we discern whether our prayers are aligned with God’s will and purposes?
Going Deeper
- Share a personal experience where a prayer was answered differently than expected.
- How did you reconcile your desires with God’s plan? What did you learn from that experience?
- As a group, discuss practical steps for “praying bigger” in your individual and corporate prayer lives.
