Grow Group Questions – March 24, 2024

Admin Team   -

Announcement:

Please consider attending the Good Friday service TOGETHER. We will have time for you to experience communion as a group, at one of our stations, so we would love to see you all attend the same service.

Icebreaker:

Are you a long-range planner who likes your options settled, or do you take one day at a time and like your options to be open?

Sermon Discussion – James 4:13-17

  • Why is it so important to us that we can control our destinies and enforce the fulfillment of all our plans?
    • Why is this a contradiction to what James was teaching?
  • In what ways do you think self-reliance can lead to a diminished dependence on God?
    • Can you share any personal examples or observations?
  • Reflecting on the passage, how can you strike a balance between planning for the future and acknowledging God’s sovereignty over your life?

Going Deeper

  • How does the concept of seeking the Lord’s will in daily decisions challenge your cultural emphasis on self-sufficiency and autonomy?
  • How can you actively practice seeking God’s will daily in both minor and major decisions, moving beyond mere lip service of “If the Lord Wills”?
  • How can you guard against falling into the trap of becoming too comfortable in your own plans and abilities, neglecting your reliance on God?

Prayer Time

Ask God to give you eyes to see how He wants to lead you every day. Ask him to help you be sensitive to the Holy Spirit speaking to you throughout the day.

Reminder for next week: It’s Easter! Read through the Crucifixion and Resurrection stories found in the Gospels.
