Icebreaker:

When you are discouraged, what type of music do you listen to and why?

Sermon Discussion – Acts 16:16-28

  • What is your initial reaction to the concept that “the chief end of people is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever?”
    • How does this align or differ from your previous understanding of life’s purpose?
  • Steve mentioned the various ways the word “glorify” is used, such as magnification, reflection, and brightness.
    • How can these concepts be applied to our lives as we seek to glorify God?
    • (Podcast question) Pastor David said we give direct and indirect glory to God. What are examples of both? Why is it important to give “direct” glory to God?”
  • Finding identity in anything other than worshiping God may lead to missing the real point of existence. How does your identity as a “Worshipper”:
    • Change your expectations and critiques of Sunday morning services?
    • Change how you respond to good and bad circumstances in life?

Going Deeper

  • Reflect on a time in your life when you faced challenges or unfair circumstances. How did you respond, and how might Paul and Silas’s response to adversity being worship – inspire or challenge your own reactions?
  • How can the concept of glorifying God be practically applied in your everyday activities, relationships, and decisions?
  • In the podcast, our worshiping in song on a given Sunday morning was equated with us receiving a little slice of heaven here on earth. Do you agree or disagree with that statement? Why or why not

Prayer:

Spend time praying for a heart that KNOWS their purpose is to glorify God.

Reminder for Next week:. Read Matthew chapter 4
