If you had to pull up stakes and move to another country where would you go? Why there?
Sermon Discussion – Matthew 2:11-23
- In what ways do you believe God communicates to us today?
- Which way do you think he uses most with you?
- Have you ever had a dream or vision you believed to be supernatural? How did you come to that conclusion?
- In vs 22, Joseph seems to have a ‘bad feeling’ about going to Judea because of the rule of Archelaus, Herod’s son. His discernment was confirmed by a dream.
- How do you identify this type of feeling or impression as the nudge of God toward or away from something?
- Discuss with the group the things that are necessary in our lives to know God’s leading in a situation.
- From Joseph’s responsiveness, what do you learn about faith and obedience?
- How long would it take you to say “yes” if God asked you to move on with him? Why the delay?

- What situation or circumstance has you wondering if you need to walk away or engage?
- What specific things can you do to discern whether God wants you to engage in conflict or walk away?
- How can we cultivate discernment in our lives so that when these occasions arise we do not feel stuck?
