Grow Group Questions – October 8, 2023

Glenna Lenardson   -

Icebreaker:

  • Before Sunday’s message, how would you have defined “unity”?

Sermon Discussion – Read Ephesians 4:1-16

  • How is unity different from uniformity?
  • Pastor Steve talked about the diversity of musical tastes within the church.
    • What is it about those kinds of differences that make it possible to sit in worship together?
    • What are some examples of diversity within the church and how is unity maintained despite those differences?
    • How have you seen what Paul said in verse 2 lived out in these examples?
  • Diversity and variety are important within the body of Christ. Likewise, the ministry of the church can be hindered by divisions among its members.
    • Please share any examples of how diversity has enriched your own church experience, and conversely how divisions have negatively impacted it.

Going Deeper

  • How do you balance the pursuit of unity with the importance of sound theology and doctrine within the church?
    • How does what Paul says in verse 14-16 help us navigate unity in the Body of Christ?
  • Do you feel safe to share the ways you might be/feel/think different from others in this church? Why or why not?
    • Is there something the group can do to help foster a safer environment for sharing our differences and building unity?

Prayer:

  • Take some time to pray for unity within our church at large and within our individual Grow Group.

Reminder for Next week: We will be in Ephesians 4:17-32  – Read ahead!
