Grow Group Questions – October 15, 2023

Glenna Lenardson   -

Icebreaker:

  • What is a New Years Resolution you have tried to achieve but never were successful in achieving?

Sermon Discussion – Read Ephesians 4:17-31

  • Paul once again starts verse 17 reminding the Christians of the way they used to live:
    • Why is this important?
    • What should this do in our hearts as followers of Christ?
  • Is it possible for a person to change their conduct without a transformation of the heart (v. 18)? Why/Why not?
    • Conversely, can the heart be changed without a resulting change of conduct? Why?
  • What does verse 23 tell us that needs to happen within us before we can do the right things?
    • What happens when we skip what verse 23 says?

Going Deeper

  • Discuss this question from the message. “Do we only believe in a Gospel that is powerful enough merely to save us, or one that is also powerful enough to transform us?”
  • Genuine faith will be reflected by genuine Christian living. In what ways do you see this evidenced in your own Christian walk and in what ways do you feel you need to experience growth?
  • Chase mentioned three specific areas where Paul expresses concern:   speech, anger and greed. Which one do you struggle with the most? Give some examples of how you have seen it in your life recently?

Prayer:

  • Pray for each other based on how you answered the last question. (Suggestion:  go in a circle and pray for the person on your left)

Reminder for Next week: We will be in Ephesians 5:1-21  – Read ahead!
