Announcement:
Discuss the different events coming up. The Young Adults Retreat, The No Regrets Men’s Conference and The Women’s Retreat. “Who is going to what, what should we go to together??”
Icebreaker:
- What’s your favorite part of being together as a group?
Sermon & Scripture Discussion – Acts 2:42-47
- Read Acts 2:42-47
- Let’s start with this word Devotion: What comes to mind when you hear that word? What do you think devotion in any context means?
- Pastor David said a good synonym for devotion is “obsessed”. What comes to your mind with that word? Do you like it? Why or why not. What might make us a little uncomfortable with the picture that word brings about to describe our Christian life?
- What do you think Devotion or even obsession with the “Apostles Teaching” should look like in our lives today?
Going Deeper
- Read John 14:26 and 1 John 2:26-27
- What do we see as the role of The Holy Spirit in teaching us through the Bible?
- How are we as a group doing at engaging the Holy Spirit in our own discussion and time together? How can we grow in this area together?
- In the service Pastor David asked us to seek the Holy Spirit to ask what might be keeping us from Living fully “Devoted” to the word of God.
- Did the Holy Spirit Speak to you and show you anything?
- What do you think the Holy Spirit is calling you to do to live more devoted?
Prayer Time: (Focused Prayer time as a group!)
Spend time in prayer as a group praying for each other around what God is asking you to give up or do to live more devoted. Pray for the Holy Spirit To have a greater role in your group.
