Glenna Lenardson   -

Announcement:

Grow Group surveys went out this week. Please encourage all to take the time to fill out the survey. It helps us to serve you better.

Icebreaker:

  • What do you look back on as the happiest days of your life? Were they really free of hardship?

Sermon & Scripture Discussion -Philippians 4:4-7

  • Verse 4 says to “rejoice” twice, so it must be important
    • Why could this command seem “pie in the sky” especially today and in this holiday season?
    • Why is the phrase “in the Lord” vital?
  • Verse 6 implores us to pray with thanksgiving
    • If God already knows everything that we are thinking and experiencing, why is it important to take everything to Him in prayer?
    • What is something about a current trial in your life that you can be thankful for?
  • Verse 7 informs us that there is a peace that passes understanding.
    • How have you experienced that kind of peace in your life?

Going Deeper – Philippians 4:4-7

  • In your own life, do you think joy produces peace, or is peace more likely to produce joy?
    • Explain your response and why it matters which comes first.
    • Do peace and joy always coincide? Why? or Why not?
  • Tylor asked us how “bright” the world was in our lives right now in comparison to Jesus.
    • How do you answer that question?
    • What is one thing that is threatening to blind you to the “glory and grace” of Christ in your life these days?

Prayer Time: (Focused Prayer time as a group!)

Spend time as a group in prayers of thanksgiving.
