Grow Group Questions – November 13, 2022

Glenna Lenardson   -

Announcement:

Please talk with your group about our Christmas initiative and how you as a group can bless the foster families of La Crosse. Remember our church goal is 200 presents.

Icebreaker:

  • Talk about a time in your life when you remember feeling glad that justice was done OR a time when you were upset that it was not.

Sermon & Scripture Discussion – 2 Timothy 4:1-8

  • What specific things come to mind when you hear the phrase “preach the Word!”?
    • Do you include messages of grace, loving one’s neighbor, ministering to the poor, etc? Why or why not?
  • Read 2 Timothy 4:3-4 aloud:
    • Have you struggled with this temptation of ‘itching ears’ and wanting to hear what only “suits your own desires”?
    • What is your greatest motivation when coming to church or listening to Biblical teachings? How do you see being challenged as a gift?
  • Think about what you might listen to(Podcasts, YouTube), read or study:
    • Are these things you read, listen to or watch chosen more to challenge what you think or affirm what you believe? Why?
    • How do you evaluate the truthfulness of what is presented in these resources?

Going Deeper – 2 Timothy 4:5 “Your Ministry Calling”

Steve shared that this is his life verse. He knows what he has been called to and what his ministry is.

  • Do you know where your ministry calling is? Share it with your group.
  • If you do not know your ministry, ask the group where they see God using you.
    • In what ways could you explore finding the ministry God might have for you right now? How will you walk forward being faithful to what He has entrusted you with?

Prayer Time:

Spend time praying for each other – for ministry that might be known and for others that are seeking God’s leading to find their calling.
