Conversation Starter/Questions (10 minutes)

What are you doing for Easter? How are you doing with your daily prayers for your E1R1-21 person?

Sermon Based Questions (15-20 minutes)

Compare the world’s definition of freedom to the biblical definition of freedom.

Read Romans 7:15-19 – In light of your own struggles with sin, how do you feel reading about Paul’s conflict? How is this a model for a healthy, realistic self-image.

John 10:10 (CSB) A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance. 1 Peter 5:8 (AMP) – That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.

How does the enemy prevent you from having an abundant life? What area of your life do you feel that Satan is trying to devour? Let’s start with what we think and believe.

Digging Deeper (20-25 minutes)

Read James 5:16 – After reading this verse, how do you think a healthy version of this would look in our church and our life group? How difficult do you think it would be? Tell of a time you might have experienced or witnessed this.

John 1:8read this aloud with your group in several translations. Of the two response paths that Pastor David taught about – denial which leads to self-righteousness or shame which leads to condemnation and hopelessness – which path are you most likely to go down? How does pride relate to each of these paths?

Read 1 Corinthians 10:13 – How does this verse give us hope in light of your battle with temptations and sin?

Challenge and Prayer (10-15 minutes)

Pray for this series about Living Free, that we will recognize this truth:

None of us are as free as we think.

None of us are as condemned as we think.

Pray that God would put someone on your heart to invite to Easter services.
