Announcement:
Please talk with your group about our Christmas initiative and how you as a group can bless the foster families of La Crosse. Remember our church goal is 200 presents. Also, the Kidstuf Breakfast needs help on November 27th.
Icebreaker:
- If you were having a hard time, who is that one person you would ask to come spend time with you and support you?
Sermon & Scripture Discussion - 2 Timothy 4:9-18
- David challenged us to share how we are “really doing” with each other. How willing are you to do that? If not willing, why?
- What would it take for you to be honest like Paul?
- Paul gives us some incredible examples of hard times in his life.
- What stands out to you about what Paul said or how he responded to those who hurt him in verses 10-11, 14-18?
- What about these responses helps us understand how Paul saw the pain he was experiencing?
Going Deeper - 2 Timothy 4:17
- Paul adds the “but” after he shares his hardship:
- How should the truth of verse 18 ease the pain or help us walk the “Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Days”?
- How can these same truths help you comfort or encourage a person who is battling for faith in a hard time?
- What do you think it means in verse 22, “The Lord be with your spirit”? How does this impact how we might pray and encourage each other?
- Before prayer let’s ask the real questions: Is anyone feeling a bit like Paul was, having a “Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”? Can we pray for you?
Prayer Time: (Focused Prayer time as a group!)
Is anyone having a hard time right now? Take the group prayer time to come around that person or persons to pray over them with these Scriptures/Truths.
