GROW GROUP QUESTIONS Icebreaker: When reflecting on your childhood and your relationship with your parents, what is one of your favorite memories? Sermon Discussion - Read Ephesians 6:1-4
How does this passage continue the theme of mutual submission begun in 5:21?
What is the difference between obeying and honoring parents?
Is it possible to obey your parents without honoring them? Explain.
How does disobedience affect parents—Proverbs 10:1; 17:21; and 19:26?
Give a possible situation where, as an adult, you should honor your parents, and one where you should not.
In verse 4, Fathers are told to not “stir up anger in their children.” Why would stirring up anger in them be detrimental to a child’s spiritual health?
Why is teaching them the Lord’s instructions the replacement to “stirring them up in anger”?
Going Deeper -
In the message, Pastor Steve talked about the tendency of some Christians to have a public and private persona.
Do you feel like you have a different persona at home versus in public? Why or why not?
How can one begin to live an integrated life?
If you still have kids at home, how are you modeling “integrity of faith” to them? How about your example to your adult children?
If you could go back and change one thing about the spiritual training of your kids, what would it be?

Spend time praying together for your families, both your immediate family and your church family.
