Grow Group Questions – November 6, 2022
Announcement:
Baptisms are on Nov 20th. Is there anyone in your group that has never been baptized since following Christ and needs to take that step of obedience?
Icebreaker:
- Is there a commercial on TV, radio, or the Internet that you really like? Why?
- Have you actually bought the product which that commercial is selling? Why or why not?
- What’s the difference between liking an ad and acting on it?
Sermon & Scripture Discussion – James 1:19-25
- Look at these verses and discuss the true nature of anger and what it does:
- Proverbs 14:17, 29:22, Psalm 37:8, Colossians 3:21
- How have you seen this in your own life and how has your anger impacted others?
- James tells us to be “quick to hear, slow to speak.” Think back to situations where you did the opposite—slow to hear, quick to speak? What’s the problem with that?
Going Deeper – James 1:16 (Focus on this)
- Chase spoke about how we’re each susceptible to being deceived; especially by our own hearts. In what areas of your own life are you concerned about deceiving yourself?
- How does it hinder your relationship with God and others?
- In The podcast they described two ways we deceive ourselves:
- 1) Looking at others’ sin so as not to confront our own sin OR
- 2) Easily confessing our sin but not actually living differently
- Which of the two are you prone to do and how has that hindered your relationship with God and others?
