Sermon & Scripture Discussion – 2 Timothy 3:10-14a
As you reflect on Sunday’s message, what principle or insight stands out as being particularly helpful, insightful, or difficult to grasp?
Paul listed several things he saw in Timothy that were continuing to stay strong, including unity of purpose. From what Paul has shown us so far in this series, how might you summarize Paul’s purpose in life?
- Do you think those that are close to you at work, in your family, or at school would define your purpose in life centered around your faith? Why or why not?
Going Deeper – 2 Timothy 3:10-14a
Have you ever been tempted to give up on your faith?
- What were some of the reasons you were tempted to quit?
- What were some of the reasons you didn’t quit?
How does the truth of 2 Timothy 3:12 make you feel?
- How might the truth of this verse be experienced in our society today? (Perhaps you can share a story of your own).
- What if we don’t experience persecution, what might this say about our Christian life?
In 2 Timothy 3:10, Paul reminds Timothy of his (Paul’s) example. Is this arrogant?
- Could you say to someone, “follow me as I follow Christ?” Why or why not?
